Name: Kassy Thompson
Major: Elementary Education
Hometown: Crawford, Neb.
High school: Crawford High School
What attracted you to your major? I chose to major in elementary education because I love being able to help children grow and realize their capabilities. I believe that education is a lifelong journey and I hope to give my students the knowledge they need as they take that journey. You could also say that I love school so much that I’ve decided to keep going back!
What are you involved in on campus? Along with being an Admissions Ambassador, I am part of Campus Crusade for Christ and the Outdoor Adventure Club. I also work as a Resident Advisor. All of these activities keep me on the move, so I never have a boring day!
Where do you hang out in your spare time—what is “your spot” on campus? You can probably find me hanging out with friends in my dorm or working out in the Physical Activity Center…basically doing anything to procrastinate doing homework!
What is your favorite class? My favorite class is Math for the Elementary Teacher II. I love this class because I love math (weird, right?!) and because of my professor, Dr. Wentworth. She is so knowledgeable and friendly. I ran into her at Daylight Donuts at 7 a.m. one morning and she could still recognize me—even though I had just gotten out of bed! She makes staying awake in class a piece of cake!
Why did you choose CSC and why do you stay? CSC is my school for so many reasons. I love being able to walk down the sidewalk and run into tons of people I know. Of course, CSC has a well-known teacher education program, but it is also über-affordable! I am proud to be an Eaglet!
