Chadron State College offers two primary means of studying abroad—semester-based programs and short term faculty-led programs. For information about current or specific opportunities for studying abroad, contact the International and Study Abroad Student Services Office by emailing Tamsyn Carey at tcarey@csc.edu or by calling 308-432-6018.
Working with experienced third-party organizations (Arcadia, AustraLearn, ISA), Chadron State College offers semester-long programs in countries in much of the world. Our providers have established relationships with dozens of universities throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and Latin America. Countries like Spain, Italy, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and others are common destinations for many American and other international students. For other students, countries like China, Japan, Greece, France, and South Africa are appealing. Semester-based programs are ideal for students seeking maximum cultural immersion while studying in another country.
From the many organizations that offer study abroad experiences throughout the world, Chadron State College has selected a small number of providers with which to partner. These “approved” providers were chosen by CSC based on factors such as reputation, longevity, variety of program locations, student safety, cost, and quality of services provided. Students enrolling in any program offered by a CSC-approved provider are entitled to all services available from the CSC Study Abroad Office. Students who choose to enroll in programs that have not been approved by the CSC Study Abroad Office will not be eligible for financial aid through CSC and are not guaranteed academic credit acceptance by CSC.
CSC does not “recommend” specific programs to students. CSC provides the student with various opportunities to consider. The final choice must be made by the student.
Chadron State College faculty have developed a variety of short term study abroad experiences in the summer and winter interim break. Most summer experiences begin during spring semester and conclude with a two to three week study tour in a foreign country. Short term study abroad is ideal for students who prefer to travel abroad with a known faculty member and group of fellow CSC students, or who are looking for an international experience that is not as long and costs less than a semester program. Contact the International and Study Abroad Student Services Office in Crites Hall 229, or at 308-432-6496 for a listing of current and future short term opportunities.
