About the Foundation

Greetings from the Foundation!!

The Chadron State Foundation was incorporated on October 10, 1963 and celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting held October 4, 2013 to help celebrate the milestone anniversary. Chairwoman Fran Grimes, who is the foundation’s first woman chair, reported that the foundation received its first donation of $50 in 1964 and now has more than $20 million in assets.

The Foundation has flourished through the years:

  • In 1966, the Foundation, using names it had acquired from the Alumni Association, had 3,500 mailing addresses for alumni. Today, there are more than 16,500.
  • In 1988, the Foundation raised $191,603, which was a record and a 23 percent increase from the previous year. In 2013, the foundation has raised $1.9 million. The Foundation’s assets in 1988 were $1.4 million.
  • Also in 1988, the Foundation awarded 116 scholarships at $300 each, or a total of $34,800. This past year, more than 600 scholarships were awarded for a total of approximately $600,000 and more than $1 million was available through the Foundation for scholarship and program support on campus.
  • The Vision 2011 Comprehensive Campaign raised $16.8 million, surpassing its goal of $11 million.

“The development and growth of the Chadron State Foundation is an amazing story. It shows how much graduates and friends of the college appreciate what the college has done for them and how much they want to see it continue to flourish. The contributions that so many have made—whether they have been 50 dollars or even less or much larger—have been lumped together to help make Chadron State a tremendous asset in our High Plains region. We hope everyone knows that their contributions are appreciated and have been put to good use to make Chadron State a great college of which we can all be proud”. Chairwoman Fran Grimes

On behalf of all of us at Chadron State College and the Chadron State Foundation, thank you for your support!
