Homecoming Parade

Saturday, September 23rd – 9:30 AM start

Prior registration is not needed; all entries will be placed in order as arrived, so the earlier arrival, the closer to the front. All entries need to be in the designated location below by 9:00 AM, because all entries (excluding bands) will be judged at that time!

The parade route is from 10th & Main Street to 4th & Main Street (heads north toward Dawes County Courthouse). Please either head east or west on 4th street at the end of route

Entries will be announced in front of the Dawes County Courthouse. All entries will receive one (1) note card upon arrival to write down organization name, description of floats, etc. Each entry will be responsible to hand-off to a designated runner for announcement at the Dawes County Courthouse.

Parade Marshal:

The 2017 Homecoming Parade Marshal is Craig Conway, a 17-year employee of Chadron State College. Conway’s wife, Joleen, and daughter, Gillian, will join him on the parade route. During his life, Conway has been diagnosed with rare cancers five times and since the fall of 2011, Conway has had three surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a combined seven-plus weeks of radiation – all several hundred miles from home. During that time, Conway has maintained his positive attitude as he continues to battle the illness while becoming a beacon of perseverance for others with cancer, as well as the college and community.

Entry Locations:

Float/Vehicle Entries – line up on the north side of EAST 12th STREET (face west to pull onto Main St). Please leave enough room on 12th street for traffic to get through.
