Application Deadlines

  • July 1: Priority deadline for Fall semester admission application
  • December 1: Priority deadline for Spring semester admissions application

Applications may be considered after the priority deadlines, but you are encouraged to apply as early as possible to allow sufficient time to secure a visa to enter the United States. The visa process can be a time intensive process.

Freshman: Undergraduate On-Campus Bachelor's Degree-Seeking

Applicants who have completed, or are near completing high school, and are applying to CSC as a first-time undergraduate (bachelor's) degree-seeking student under a U.S. non-immigrant F-1 student visa.

Applicants under the age of 17 may not reside in the campus residence halls. Students are encouraged to defer attendance until the reach the age of 17. Please contact the Office of International Education for further details.

How to apply as a Freshman (first-time college student)
Note: all of the following must be received by the Office of International Education BEFORE a student will be considered for full admission.

Step 1: Fully complete and submit your online application. It is FREE to apply.

  • Choose the International application link
  • Apply as a Freshman

Step 2: Arrange to have your official transcripts sent to CSC.

Step 3: Arrange to have proof of English proficiency sent to CSC.

Step 4: Submit your Financial Declaration and Certification.

Step 5: Submit your Health and Immunization forms.

Transfer: Undergraduate On-Campus Bachelor's Degree-Seeking

Applicants wanting to transfer to CSC as an undergraduate (bachelor's) degree seeking student from another U.S. or foreign university under a U.S. non-immigrant F-1 student visa. Transfer applicants must have completed some undergraduate (bachelor's) level courses, but not completed an undergraduate degree.

How to apply as a Transfer
Note: all of the following must be received by the Office of International Education BEFORE a student will be considered for full admission.

Step 2: Arrange to have your official transcripts sent to CSC.

Graduate: On-Campus Degree-Seeking

How to apply as an On-Campus Graduate
Note: all of the following must be received by the Office of International Education BEFORE a student will be considered for full admission.

Applicants are applying for admission to a CSC campus-based graduate (master's) program under a U.S. non-immigrant F-1 student visa. Applicants must have completed a college or university undergraduate (bachelor's) degree equivalent to a 4-year U.S. bachelor's degree. Currently, CSC only offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree for international students studying on campus.

Step 2: Arrange to have your official transcripts sent to CSC.

Step 3: Arrange to have proof of English proficiency sent to CSC.

Step 4: Submit your Financial Declaration and Certification.

Step 5: Submit your Health and Immunization forms.

Online Student: Bachelor's or Graduate

If you are planning to take courses from a location outside the United States via the internet, please be sure to select an application type of “International Online Student” when filling out the online application. Tips for submitting your Application

To ensure timely processing of your application, please do the following:

  1. Use your full legal name on all documents.
    • Make sure you use your full legal name, exactly as it appears on your passport.
    • Make sure your name is spelled correctly and consistently on your application and all the supporting documents.
    • Be sure to write your full legal name on all of your application materials (application fee, test scores, Financial Declaration and Certification, bank letter, academic records, etc.).
  2. Submit all application materials by the deadlines outlined above.
  3. Do not list a Post Office Box as your permanent foreign address.
    • In order for us to issue your I-20 form, the permanent home address listed on your application for admission must be a foreign street address.
  4. Be sure to use the correct Chadron State College mailing address.
    • Send all materials to the Admissions Office, 1000 Main Street, Crites Hall, Chadron NE 69337, USA.
  5. Provide us with an accurate email address.

English Proficiency Requirements

Proof of English language proficiency must be submitted by applicants at the time of application. If English is not your first language, you must have evidence of English language proficiency sent directly to the Admissions Office. Proficiency may be demonstrated by any one of the following.

  • Test of English Language as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)*
    The minimum required score is:
    • 550 with no section score less than 56 (paper based)
    • 79/80 (Internet based)
    • 213 with no section score less than 22 (computer based)
    Arrangement to take the TOEFL can be found at: TOEFL.
  • International English Language Test System (IELTS)*
    Minimum required score is 6.5. Arrangements to take the IELTS can be found at: IELTS.
  • ACT
    Minimum required scores are as follows: English 19, Reading 19.
    Arrangements to take the ACT exam can be found at: ACT.
  • SAT
    Minimum required scores for tests taken after May 2007 are as follows: Reading 440, English/Writing 440.
    Arrangements to take the SAT exam can be found at: SAT.
  • Completion of a minimum of six (6) credit hours of English composition with a "C" or better from an accredited American higher education institution.
  • Successful completion of a CSC-recognized intensive English language training program within two years of application at a level CSC determines equivalent to the TOEFL or IELTS exams. Acceptable English language program providers at: CSC-Approved English Language Providers.
  • Applicant is from an exempted country. English Proficiency Exempt Countries.

CSC reserves the right to require additional testing of any incoming student's English skills. If it is determined that additional English studies are necessary, you may be required to take the appropriate intensive English program courses prior to, or concurrent with, enrolling in CSC academic programs. Refusal to do so, or failure to successfully complete it, may result in dismissal from CSC.

*TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, and SAT scores are considered valid for two years from the date the test was taken.
