On the lower-right corner of the desktop is an indicator for the strength of the wireless signal. Most areas of the library have access to the network. However, the true "hotspot locations" are on the east side of 1 st and 2 nd floor, the center area of 2 nd floor, Room 112 (the Curriculum Room), and Classrooms 106, and 109. Please be aware that a wireless connection signal can fluctuate from good to none depending on your location and the number of other laptops connecting to the network. PLEASE SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN!
On the lower-right corner of the desktop is an indicator for battery strength. It is important to SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN! If the battery runs low, patrons should save their work and return the laptop to the circulation desk. Another laptop can then be checked out (pending availability).
Documents are routinely erased from the laptop's hard drive. Save your work often using one of the following options:
It is always a good idea to save your work to more than one location. If you backup your backup, then you will never lose your work.
You must save your work and log onto one of the library or campus lab computers in order to print.
It is advisable to keep all food and drink away from the wireless laptop. The borrower will be financially liable for any and all damage to the wireless laptop.
The librarian at the reference desk can answer many of the questions that will arise and will report hardware problems to the Department of Information Technology as necessary.
