The department offers a subject major in Mathematics and Mathematics Education and minors in Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Mathematics Education (K-8). The Mathematics Education option satisfies the requirements for a Field Endorsement in 7-12 Mathematics. A student must complete the core requirements and an option, in addition to general studies requirements, and a major or minor in another area. Mathematics Education students must complete Professional Education requirements in place of a major or minor in another area.
The complete Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program is offered online, as well as the traditional classroom setting. Please visit our Student Opportunities page for more information about online learning. The department also offers graduate degrees in mathematics education and resources designed to renew and update qualifications online.
Many opportunities are available for students. We are host to the Nebraska Gamma Chapter of Kappu Mu Epsilon, a mathematics honor society. We also have pre-professional programs available for students wishing to seek engineering degrees, for example.
