The CSC Music Department will host the High Plains Band and Choir Honor Festival on February 2-3, 2015. Eligible participants are high school students who have an interest in music, would like to further their musical knowledge, and want to have FUN making music with other students who share the same interest.
Students selected for the High Plains Band and Choir Music Festival participate in two days of rehearsals and activities culminating in a concert at the end of the second day at Chadron State College located in beautiful northwest Nebraska. Ensembles include an Honor Band and Honor Choir (SATB).
While students are in rehearsal, directors have the opportunity of attending reading sessions and clinics that focus on their areas of teaching expertise.
The High Plains 2015 directors will be:
Honor Band: Dr. Joseph Manfredo
Honor Choir: Dr. Joel Schreuder
The audition fee is $10 per student. An additional $10 fee will be per student selected. The only additional expenses for participants are meals and lodging. For other information, please contact Jessyca Hovendick, the Visual and Performing Arts office assistant, at 308-432-6317, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Choose the MP3 file for your part. You will notice all the parts are present in the MP3 file, but your part is louder than the other parts. In addition, your part will be in the left speaker, while the other parts will all be in the right speaker. This way, you can adjust the balance on your speakers to the left so that you can isolate your part alone, or you can practice singing with the other voices and your part if you keep the balance equal. As you become more confident, try to practice holding your part by yourself by turning the balance to the right speaker. This will ensure you have learned your part well and can sing it confidently with the ensemble. This preparation is essential for both choirs to have a successful and positive musical experience. Don’t hesitate to have your director contact Dr. Schreuder or Dr. Taylor if you have any questions about the festival or about the music.
