Transfer Student Scholarships

Deadline: March 1

Students need to submit only one application for all CSC Scholarships, except for the Phi Theta Kappa, Athletics, Art, Agriculture, Social Sciences, and Theatre. Please review the scholarship listing for more details regarding the scholarships available. Applications postmarked after the deadline will be considered in the second round of awarding.

Related to Alumni

The Chadron State Alumni Association annually awards two $500 scholarships. Applicants must have a relative who graduated from CSC. Interested applicants may print and complete the attached form. Return it to the Alumni Office by April 1, 2013. Contact the Alumni Office for additional information.

Community College

Recipients will receive a two-year tuition scholarship to apply up to 16 credit hours of on-campus tuition for 4 consecutive semesters. Students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA to qualify for the renewal the second year. Students must be graduates of Western Nebraska Community College, Mid-Plains Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Eastern Wyoming College, Casper College or Morgan Community College to be considered for this award. Contact the Dean of Students office at one of the participating community colleges for an application.

Phi Theta Kappa

Recipients will receive a two-year tuition scholarship to apply up to 16 credit hours of in-state on-campus tuition for 4 consecutive semesters (fall/spring). Students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA to qualify for the renewal the second year. Students must have an associate’s degree, a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale from all colleges attended prior to attendance at CSC, proof of PTK membership and enroll full-time at CSC the fall semester following spring graduation at a community college to be considered for this award. Students must complete the PTK Scholarship Application and submit (postmarked) by March 1 deadline. There are a limited number of scholarships available each year.

Sterling Presidential

Recipients will receive a two-year, full tuition scholarship to apply up to 16 credit hours of in-state on-campus tuition for four consecutive semesters (fall/spring). Students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA to qualify for the renewal the second year. Students must have an associate’s degree and a cumulative 3.0+ grade point average on a 4.0 scale on all colleges attended prior to attendance at CSC for consideration of this awards provided the CSC Scholarship Application is completed and postmarked by the March 1 deadline.

From now on, the Sterling Presidential Tuition Waiver will be a full tuition waiver (up to 16 credit hours of in-state on-campus tuition rates) and will require a 3.25 cumulative grade point average for renewal.

HOWEVER new students awarded the tuition waiver will have different coverage. From now on, the Bronze Presidential Tuition Waiver will be a 1/2 tuition waiver (up to 16 credit hours of in-state on-campus tuition rates) and will still require the 3.0 cumulative grade point average for renewal.

Bank of the West Endowment

A general scholarship to a low to moderate income level recipient(s).

Ed Bieganski Develop Your Potential Endowment

Recipient(s) shall be a student who demonstrates a strong work ethic and the willingness to give back to society.

CABELA’S CSC Education Fund

In order of preference, these scholarships will be awarded to children of Cabela’s employees from Cheyenne County who are Pell Grant eligible; students from Cheyenne County who are Pell Grant eligible; children of Cabela’s employees in the State of Nebraska who are Pell Grant eligible; students from Nebraska who are Pell Grant eligible. Recipients must have a minimum 2.5 GPA

C-A-R-E Scholarship

The C-A-R-E Scholarship endowment was established in 1987 with contributions from alumni and friends of Chadron State College. This is a one-year nonrenewable $500 award, available to first time students, as well as continuing/returning CSC students. Requirements for this scholarship vary according to the applicant’s status. Recipients are selected on the basis of previous academic achievement and their potential for excellence.

Chadron Prep Alumni Endowment

Awards from this endowment will be awarded first to an alumnus of Chadron Prep School or a direct descendent of a Chadron Prep alumnus. Second preference will be given to students from area schools that plan to attend CSC.

Chadron State Academic Achievement Award

Available to incoming freshmen and transfer students. This one-year nonrenewable award is based on GPA and/or ACT scores and leadership potential.

Cook Family Endowed

A scholarship will be provided for a freshman or transfer student from Wyoming. First preference shall be given to a student from Niobrara, Goshen, Platte or Laramie counties in Wyoming. A GPA of at least 3.0 is required.

Gene & Margaret Ann Hughes

A scholarship shall be provided to a graduate of Scottsbluff High School or a transfer student from WNCC. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 with a 3.0 or greater preferred.

Hermine & C.J. Loghry Endowed

A scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate of Dawes, Sioux or Sheridan counties who graduated with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and who has declared Pre-Nursing as a college major. Second preference would be given to a sophomore or junior majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. This scholarship is renewable one time if the recipient has met the GPA requirements.

James H. McGregor Endowed

The recipient of this award shall be an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and an active participant in school sponsored clubs, organizations or athletic teams. Applicants must indicate their tribal enrollment number on the scholarship application. Recipient must be of college sophomore level or above and have graduated from a high school located on the Rosebud Reservation. Transfer students from Oglala Lakota College or Sinte Gleska University shall also be eligible for this award.

James H. & Nella B. McGregor Endowed

The recipient of this award shall be an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and an active participant in school sponsored clubs, organizations or athletic teams. Applicants must indicate their tribal enrollment number of the scholarship application form. Recipient must be of college sophomore level or above and have graduated from a high school located on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Transfer students from Oglala Lakota College or Sinte Gleska University shall also be eligible for this award.

Reta King Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a sophomore student pursuing a course of study in Library Science. The recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability.

Caroline Sandoz Pifer Endowed

An undergraduate or graduate scholarship will be provided.

Phi Theta Kappa Community College Transfer

The purpose of the Phi Theta Kappa Community College Transfer Scholarship is to provide tuition waivers to graduates of the community colleges who have maintained a 3.5 GPA and who were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage outstanding community college graduates to attend a Nebraska State College. These scholarships are renewable each academic year, provided the recipient maintains a 3.25 GPA at the State College; renewal must be applied for. The scholarships are the waiver of basic tuition to a maximum of 64 credit hours toward the baccalaureate degree.

Alta Fox Steininger Endowed

Incoming freshman or transfer students shall be eligible for this award. Selection shall be based on scholastic achievement, volunteer activities, leadership qualities and financial need. A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in ag-business.

Everett Colwell Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a graduate from a northwest Nebraska high school and is pursuing a course of study in Agriculture. The recipient will be selected on a scholastic ability and need.

A number of Agriculture scholarships will be available for first-time enrollees at Chadron State College.

Art Scholarships

CSC Art Scholarships

A number of scholarship are awarded each year to students who plan to major in art. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of artistic and creative ability rather than financial need. Please have a letter of recommendation sent by your art instructor or principal attesting to your interest and ability in art. Also submit at least fifteen 35mm slides or color prints by mail showing original art work in a wide range of materials.
Application

William Artis Visual Arts

A scholarship shall be awarded to a college sophomore level or above majoring in the field of Visual Arts. The recipient shall have a GPA of at least 2.5. The Chadron State College Art faculty shall determine the recipient.

Gerald G. Christoffersen Endowed

A renewable scholarship shall be given in the area of Fine Arts. Recipient shall have graduated in the upper 10 percent of their high school class and have a GPA of at least 3.25.

Fortune-Chicoine Annual Fine Arts Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in theatre, art, or music.

Margaret L. (Peg) Gray Memorial

A scholarship shall be provided for college sophomore level and above students who have declared their Art major as a freshman. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The Chadron State College Art faculty shall determine the recipient.

Athletics Scholarships

Athletic Waivers & Grants

A number of tuition waivers and grants are awarded to men and women participating in college athletics. Information may be obtained by contacting the Athletics Director.

Armstrong Family

A number of scholarships will be provided for male students who have demonstrated by their performance and accomplishments in high school that they possess college athletic and scholastic potential. Information may be obtained by contacting the Athletics Director.

George W. Bowman Memorial

A CSC men’s basketball scholarship provided to a freshman or transfer student. First preference will be given to a player who is from Johnson, Iowa or Poweshiek County in Iowa. Second preference will be given to a Player from the service region of Chadron State College. Contact the men’s basketball coach for further information.

Clifford W. “Pete” & Bernadette Carroll Endowed

A scholarship will be provided to a member of the Chadron State College football team. The recipient shall have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

Paul & Bernice Carroll Memorial

The Carroll Scholarship provides a scholarship for a male high school graduate. The recipient should have college potential in football, show academic promise and an interest in some phase of the science fields. An application may be obtained by contacting the Athletics Director.

Gerald G. Christoffersen Endowed

A renewable scholarship shall be given in the area of Athletics. Recipient shall have graduated in the upper 10 percent of their high school class and have a GPA of at least 3.25. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

Bill Coffee Football Scholarship

A scholarship will be awarded to any Chadron State College football player from western Nebraska. Preference shall be given to a student from the counties of Sioux or Dawes of Nebraska. The Chadron State Athletic Director shall determine the recipient of this scholarship. Information may be obtained by contacting the Athletics Director.

Rex & Ermine Coffee

A scholarship will be provided for a male student who has high academic and athletic ability and shows promise of becoming a varsity football player. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

Walter & Florence Hampton Science

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in Science. First preference will be given to a Science major who is also a member of the men’s basketball team. Second preference will be given to any Science major. Chemistry preferred. Contact the men’s basketball coach for further information.

Verne & Erma Lewellen Family Endowment - Hay Springs, Rushville, Gordon

This scholarship is for a student athlete from Hay Springs, Rushville, or Gordon, Nebraska.

Lewellen-St. Clair Endowment - Mitchell and Morrill

This scholarship is for a student athlete from Mitchell or Morrill, Nebraska.

Jim Montague Memorial

A scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate who has college potential in basketball and who shows character and leadership. First preference will be given to a Chadron High School graduate. Second preference will be given to a student from Wyoming, South Dakota or the Nebraska Panhandle. Information may be obtained by contacting the men’s basketball coach.

Purple Passion Picnic Athletic

A scholarship for an undergraduate student involved in football, basketball, wrestling or track. The recipient should have a GPA of 2.5 or better. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

Leon C. Rittenhouse/Warren P. Barnum Endowed

A scholarship will be provided for a full-time college senior who has demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to an athlete.

Brad Smith Endowed Football

A scholarship will be provided for any college student participating in football. The recipient shall have a GPA of 2.25 or above. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

Stein Family Football

An annual scholarship will be provided for a Chadron High School graduate planning to play football or obtain a coaching endorsement at Chadron State College. Contact the Athletics Director for an application.

Bill “Steve” Stephenson Memorial

A scholarship will be given to any college athlete. The recipient must meet NCAA eligibility standards. Contact the Athletics Director for more information.

A scholarship will be provided for a member of the men’s basketball team. The recipient should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or have graduated from high school in the top one-half of the class. The men’s basketball coach selects the recipient.

Scholarships will be provided for full-time undergraduate students majoring in Business, Business Education, Real Estate, Office Management, Economics or Finance with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or rank in the upper one-half of their high school graduating class.

Second Wind Endowment

A scholarship will be provided to a non-traditional or transfer student with preference given to students who have stopped out and are returning to college to major in a professional or business field.

A scholarship is provided for a student at the sophomore level or above who graduated from a high school located in Fall River or Custer County, South Dakota. First preference shall be an Agri-Business major. Second preference shall be given to any major.

A scholarship will be made available to any college level student, including Graduate. The recipient shall be majoring in the area of Psychology or Counseling and have maintained a High School or college GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

A scholarship will be made available to a college junior or senior who is majoring in Education with a Special Education endorsement. The recipient must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

This award is for students who are sophomore level or above pursuing a career or a teaching degree in the physical sciences. This award is renewable upon re-application.

Sandra Moreland Channer Memorial

A scholarship will be provided to a student of college sophomore level or above. The recipient must be majoring in Elementary Education. First preference shall be given to a Cherry or Sheridan County high school graduate.

A scholarship will be provided for an Education major. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient sends a written request for the renewal and has achieved a cumulative 2.75 GPA or above and passed the PPST successfully.

A scholarship will be provided for an Education major of college junior or senior level. Recipient must have a GPA of 2.75 or above and have passed the PPST. This award is automatically renewable provided you continue to meet the required criteria specific to this scholarship.

A scholarship will be provided for an undergraduate of junior or senior level majoring in Education. The recipient must have a GPA of 2.75 or above and have passed the PPST.

Anna Grace Mingus Memorial

A scholarship shall be provided for a nontraditional student majoring in Education. Recipient shall also have graduated from a high school located in Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.

June Tjelle Penor Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a student of sophomore, junior, senior or graduate status majoring in Special Education--Learning Disabilities. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA, be of strong moral character and of the belief that Christ is their personal Lord and Savior. This award is automatically renewable provided a cumulative 2.75 or above and have successfully passed the PPST.

Arthur G. Peterson Family Memorial

The A.G. Peterson Family Memorial Fund will provide a scholarship for a Nebraska resident of junior or senior level majoring in Education. The recipient shall display good character, leadership and exceptional potential for teaching as evidenced by a 3.0 or better GPA.

Jacque & Dorothy Schmiedt Endowed

A scholarship will be awarded to a college senior enrolled in the Professional Education semester, preferably having a major in English or Library Media. The recipient must be a graduate of a Wyoming high school. Second preference shall be given to a college senior who is an Education major and a graduate of a Wyoming high school. The recipient shall have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

Family & Consumer Sciences Scholarships

Janet R. Mitchell Family & Consumer Science Annual Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided for a student entering the FACS program at CSC. Recipient must have at least a 2.0 GPA. First priority shall be given to a person of financial need. Recipient may be of any grade level.

Lee Curtis Child Development Annual

A scholarship is provided for a student at the sophomore level or above, who is majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences with an option in Child Development. The recipient must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

Walter & Florence Hampton Human Ecology

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in Human Ecology.

Moody/Crouse Family

A scholarship shall be provided for a Family and Consumer Sciences major of sophomore level or above. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Industrial Technology Scholarships

Lawrence & Thelma Lindahl Memorial

A scholarship will be provided to a student pursuing a major in Industrial Technology. Second consideration will be given to Math and Science majors. Upperclassmen must have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Freshmen will be evaluated on their ACT composite score.

Lee Moeller ITE Endowed

A scholarship for an undergraduate student majoring in Industrial Technology. The recipient shall have a GPA of at least 2.0. This scholarship is renewable if the student is taking a minimum of six hours in ITE.

Frank Thoendel

A scholarship will be provided for a junior level student majoring in Industrial Technology Education. The award will be based on scholarship and character and the recipient must have a 2.75 GPA in the above field and maintain a 2.25 GPA overall.

Donald E. & Elenor Green Liberal Arts Endowed

A scholarship will be provided to a student majoring in one of the Language and Literature or Social Science degree programs. The recipient shall have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Paulette & Richard Hildreth Communications Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided to a student majoring in any academic major, but must have demonstrated interest, competence, and active participation in the areas of English Composition, Journalism, Creative Writing, Language Arts, Forensics, or Speech. Consideration will be given to a student who is taking French Composition courses. The recipient shall have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

A scholarship will be awarded to an English major who has maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.

Andy Anderson Endowed Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided to a graduate of Gering High School majoring in Health Sciences with a preference in Biology.

Mary Ellin Carder Endowed Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided to a student that meets the requirements for eligibility and selection that are required by the RHOP program and shall be majoring in the RHOP program.

Ruth B. Christians Memorial

An annual scholarship will be provided for a first-time student from rural (western) Nebraska who has demonstrated academic promise.

Rollin C. Curd Land Surveyor/Pre-Engineering Endowment

A scholarship will be provided for a college sophomore who is working toward a land surveyor/pre-engineering career. Second preference will be given to a student majoring in Mathematics or Physical Science. The recipient must have graduated from a high school in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.

Dr. Richard David Memorial

An annual scholarship is provided by the David family and the Richard David Memorial Scholarship Fund for a junior or senior student planning to pursue a career in Optometry. Selection is based on scholastic ability.

Ted & Karen Davis

A scholarship will be provided for students majoring in Math and participating in the Math Scholars Program.

Leonard Arthur & Berdyne Butcher Eddy Memorial

A scholarship is provided for a student of any college grade level majoring in the Natural Science area. The recipient shall have a 3.0 GPA.

Glenn O. & Evelyn F. Emick

A number of scholarships are provided for students. Preference will be given to students majoring in Pre-Medicine. Should the number of applicants in the above field not be available, then applicants in other science and/or teaching fields may considered.

Val Fitch Endowed Scholarship

A scholarship is provided for a student majoring or minoring in physics or mathematics. The recipient shall have a 3.0 GPA.

Don & Olive Forney Endowed RHOP

A scholarship will be provided for a Pre-Med student with financial need. Second preference will be given to a student enrolled in RHOP.

Albert O. “Ole” Fox Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for college sophomores or above who are majoring or minoring in Mathematics. Recipients shall have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Doris Gates Memorial

The recipient must be a junior and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA for the freshman and sophomore years. The student must be majoring in the Science field and show an interest in the study of plants, animals, birds and their habitat, including the problem of conservation.

Dr. John Hawley Memorial

A scholarship is provided for a student from the panhandle of Nebraska, eastern Wyoming or southwest South Dakota majoring in the Pre-Veterinary program. The award will be based on scholastic ability and financial need.

Dr. Leo & Eunice Hoevet Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a student who has demonstrated the ability and an interest in the field of medicine.

Dr. Dan Johnson Endowed

A scholarship shall be provided for a student enrolled in the Allied Health Field. First preference shall be given to a student enrolled in the Pre-Dentistry program. This award is automatically renewable provided you continue to meet the required criteria specific to this scholarship.

Kreycik Health Professions Endowment

A scholarship shall be provided for a student majoring in a health professions related field. Recipients may be of any college level and must have a GPA of at least 3.2. The Chair of the Physical and Life Sciences Department shall make selection, with recommendation from the Science Department faculty.

Hubert J. Liehe Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in Physical Science. Recipient shall have a minimum of 3.0 GPA.

Dick & Marlene Myers Pre-Pharmacy

A scholarship for a pre-pharmacy student of any grade level. Recipient shall have a 3.5 or better GPA.

Linda K. Nitsch Health Professions Annual Scholarship

A scholarship shall be provided for a student enrolled in the health professions field.

Omaha World Herald Academic Scholars Program

An Academic Scholars Program that provides room and board for a student majoring in Mathematics.

Rural Health Opportunities Program

A scholarship will be awarded to a student from rural Nebraska who shows academic promise and has been selected to enroll in the Rural Health Opportunities Program at Chadron State College.

Lewis B. Sanders Memorial

A scholarship is given to a student presenting an outstanding scholastic record and majoring in Physics or Mathematics.

Charles Ruff & Wayne Stutheit

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in Pre-Medicine or the Allied Health Professions. The selection is based on scholarship.

Barbara Barnes Memorial

A scholarship shall be provided for a student majoring in Music Education or Speech/Theatre. The faculty of the Visual and Performing Arts Department shall select recipient.

Hazel Beckwith Morgan Memorial

A scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a Music or Music Education major.

Dr. Alfred Blinde Memorial

A scholarship will be awarded to a college junior or senior pursuing a career in vocal music.

A scholarship is provided for students majoring in Music. Recipients must possess a GPA of at least 2.5 or have graduated in the upper one-half of their class.

Gerald G. Christoffersen Endowed

A renewable scholarship shall be given in the area of Fine Arts. Recipient shall have graduated in the upper 10 percent of their high school class and have a GPA of at least 3.25.

Tim Dwyer Music

A scholarship will be provided for a music major or minor of sophomore level or above.

Robert Hanlon Esquire Music Endowment

A scholarship will be provided for an upperclassman student with a major or minor in Music with an emphasis in Woodwind Instruments.

Fortune-Chicoine Annual Fine Arts Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring in theatre, art, or music.

J. Lewis & Helen J. Hammitt Annual Music

An annual scholarship will be provided for a Music major with an instrument emphasis in keyboard. Second preference will be given to a student majoring in voice. The music faculty shall make recipient selection.

Charles & Doris Harrington Family

A scholarship will be provided for students who are Music Education majors with an emphasis in Instrumental Music. Recipients must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Harry & Margaret Holmberg Music

A scholarship will be provided for a student of sophomore, junior or senior level who is an outstanding Instrumental Music major, participating in one or more major instrumental organizations. The recipient may petition for renewal of the scholarship, if the recipient has maintained a 3.0 GPA. Petition must be made before January 15.

Cara Kisicki Memorial

A scholarship is provided for a full-time undergraduate non-Music major who is participating as a member of the CSC Band. The recipient must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need.

CSC Minority Endowed

A scholarship will be provided for a student who is a person of color defined as Asian, African-American, Hispanic or Native American. Preference will be given to students majoring in Music or participating in instrumental/vocal ensembles. The student must send an audition cassette tape with his/her application to the Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department.

Leonard E. & Mary Carpenter Paulson Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a Fine Arts major, with preference given to a student majoring in Voice.

Rischling Family Music

A scholarship will be provided for an instrumental Music Education major at the sophomore level or above. The recipient shall have a GPA of 2.5 or better.

James & Genevieve Sommers

A scholarship is provided for a full-time student majoring in Music. Student must be able to demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of 2.5 or above.

Music Performance Annual Scholarship

A scholarship will be provided for a student with a major or minor in Music. The recipient shall have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The CSC music faculty will make the selection.

Winkle-Vaughan Annual Tuba Achievement Award

A scholarship will be provided for a student with a major in Music with an emphasis in Tuba. The recipient shall have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. First preference shall be given to a Junior.

Natural Science Scholarships

Dr. Lyle V. Andrews Science & Teaching

The scholarship is available to any deserving senior in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Earth Science, Health Professions and Allied Fields. The faculty of this division will make recommendations.

Al Beguin Memorial

A scholarship will be provided for a student majoring or minoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Science or Physical Science. The recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and need.

Minnie E. Lichte Memorial Endowment

This award is for students who are sophomore level or above pursuing a career or a teaching degree in the physical sciences. This award is renewable upon re-application.

Physical Education Scholarships

Thomas P. Colgate Physical Education

A scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior pursuing a BS degree in Physical Education. The recipient must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA in all HPER courses. The recipient must be willing to be a member of the Nebraska Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and be willing to serve as a student representative for the campus.

Psychology Scholarships

Dr. John Dunn Memorial Psychology

A scholarship will be provided for a full- or part-time student majoring in Psychology and/or Guidance and Counseling. The recipient should have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Rick Hildreth Counseling/Psychology Scholarship

A scholarship will be made available to any college level student, including Graduate. The recipient shall be majoring in the area of Psychology or Counseling and have maintained a High School or college GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Rodeo Scholarships

Kathy Kennedy Rodeo Memorial

A scholarship will be awarded annually to a new student or transfer student. The recipient must be a member of the women’s rodeo team and exemplify good conduct and good sportsmanship. Contact the Rodeo Club Coach/Sponsor for details.

Leon Pine Memorial Rodeo

The Leon Pine Rodeo Scholarship fund provides a rodeo scholarship to Chadron State College students. Contact the Rodeo Club Coach/Sponsor for details.

Social Science Scholarships

Donald E. & Elenor Green Liberal Arts Endowed

A scholarship will be provided to a student majoring in one of the Language and Literature or Social Science degree programs. The recipient shall have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Dr. Richard J. Loosbrock Endowed History Scholarship

A scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior student who is majoring in History. The recipient must have a GPA of 2.5 or above. The recipient will be chosen by the Chadron State history faculty.

Dr. George Morgan

A scholarship will be awarded annually to a student interested in Geography, Natural Science, Anthropology, History, the culture of Native Americans and other cultures.

The Allen & Sara Shepherd History Scholarship

A scholarship will be awarded annually to a student interested in History. Application materials may be secured from Dr. Joel Hyer at any time after the beginning of the spring semester. The completed application must be returned by March 1. The Committee will determine the recipient based on Dr. Joel Hyer's recommendation. Half of the award will be given the first week of fall semester; the second half will be given the first week of spring semester. Application information may be obtained here.

Virginia Speich Endowed

A scholarship will be provided for a History or Secondary Social Science major. Recipients must have an ACT score of 18 or above and have graduated in the top one-half of their graduating class. First preference will be given to incoming freshmen.

Watson Justice Studies

A scholarship will be given to a student majoring in Pre-Law, Criminal Justice or Legal Studies. The recipient must have an ACT score of 18 or above and have at least a 2.5 GPA.

Speech/Theatre Scholarships

Barbara Barnes Memorial

An award shall be provided for a student majoring in Music Education or Speech/Theatre. The faculty of Music and Speech/Theatre shall select recipient.

CSC Theatre Assistantships

The Theatre Program at CSC awards a number of Assistantships to students who plan to or who currently major in Theatre. These Assistantships are awarded on the basis of ability in Theatre, more than on financial need. Theatre Assistantships will be awarded from the following sources: Tuition Waivers, Memorial Scholarships, Foundation Assistantships, Fine Arts Assistantships. Click here for the application.

A scholarship will be awarded to a student of sophomore level or above, majoring in the area of Theatre with an emphasis in costuming. In the absence of a student with an emphasis in costuming, any Theatre student who fits the criteria may be chosen. Need shall be a factor in recipient selection.
