Accessing Your Financial Aid on MyCSC
To be considered for federal grants, work study, student and parent loans, and other state-supported financial aid assistance you must complete the FAFSA on the web. This website allows you to fill out an electronic FAFSA and submit it using a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your FAFSA results will be sent to Chadron State College. You will be contacted by Financial Aid, via your EagleMail account, if you have awards that you need to accept or if you need to submit additional information.
Chadron State College School Code: 002539
Apply for your PIN. It serves as an electronic signature for both the student and parent applications, as well as the various United States Department of Education forms. Forms include:
Students placed on financial aid warning remain eligible for most financial aid programs for their next period of enrollment. However, the next term of enrollment is the probationary period. During the probationary period, students are required to successfully complete 1) at least 12 new credit hours if paid as full time; or 2) at least 9 new credit hours if paid as ¾ time; or 3) at least 6 new credit hours if paid as ½ time or 4) at least 3 credit hours if paid as less than ½ time. Please reference #2 for definitions of successfully completed and courses that do not count towards attempted credit hours. Failure to successfully complete the attempted enrollment status while on probation will result in Financial Aid Suspension.
Students placed on financial aid suspension are ineligible to receive financial aid for the next term of enrollment. To regain financial aid eligibility, students are required to successfully complete at least 50% of the enrollment status of the term, which resulted in financial aid suspension using their own resources.
Students may appeal their situation if they believe extenuating circumstances interfered with their ability to maintain satisfactory academic progress. To request consideration for an appeal, students need to write a letter explaining their circumstances to the Financial Aid Office no later than the deadline date provided in the notification. Students are allowed to appeal only once. If your appeal is approved you will be placed on Financial Aid Probation.
Extenuating Circumstances
Extenuating Circumstances may be injury or illness of a student or dependent of the student, death of a family member, family difficulties or interpersonal problems with friends.
Students placed on academic suspension are automatically placed on financial aid suspension. Students choosing to appeal their academic suspension MUST submit an appeal letter to the Financial Aid Office in addition to the Academic Suspension Appeals Committee.
Students declaring academic amnesty for a semester in which financial aid was received and resulted in an academic or financial aid suspension is not appealable and students will need to meet the conditions of the Financial Aid Suspension to regain their financial aid eligibility.

MBA students are considered full-time, if enrolled in 6 credit hours during an 8-week session. MBA students are considered 1/2-time, if enrolled in 3 credit hours during an 8-week session. This only applies to students admitted in the MBA program and only applies if the courses are in 8-week sessions. If courses are semester based, this policy does not apply.

The number of correspondence hours counted in the total course load was adjusted so that the correspondence hours never exceeded the regular hours taken.
Notice in the last example, the student is eligible for payment based on half-time enrollment in correspondence courses, despite the fact that the student only took two hours of regular coursework.

When the documentation is received, it must be reviewed by the Financial Aid Office. Any discrepancies must be resolved before a student’s eligibility can be determined. Upon completion of the verification, the Financial Aid Office will electronically submit any necessary corrections to your application. The federal processor will send you an acknowledgement, indicating the changes that were made to the application data. The Financial Aid Office will send an electronic award notification to your MyCSC account, informing you of your eligibility.
If you feel you or your family have special circumstances that might affect your need for Student Financial Aid, you may complete a Special Circumstances Request Form and submit it to the Financial Aid Office for review. Examples of special circumstances may be loss of income, unusually high medical/dental expenses or receipt of a one-time income. Our office will review your request and notify you within 7-10 days if additional supporting documentation is necessary or we will proceed with your request. Remember, we have to have a very good reason for making any adjustments and supporting documentation is necessary. Once a decision is made, it cannot be appealed to the United States Department of Education.
When you apply for admission to CSC, you receive an NU ID and password, which is what you use to signon to your MyCSC account. Your MyCSC account provides online access to your personal financial aid information (including completing your To Do List and accepting your FA awards) and is the formal line of communication between you and Financial Aid.
Please read and follow all instructions carefully. When appropriate, ensure that you select the correct award year.
